HopMeds on your own computer

The same HopMeds your counter runs on, installed on the shop computer. It keeps a local copy of your pharmacy so the counter can carry on during a public-internet outage, and it updates itself when a new version is published.

The newest version

This button always gives you the newest Windows installer we have published. Installing it over an older copy upgrades the computer in place and keeps the pharmacy data.

Download the installer

The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows may say it protected your PC. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The fingerprint above is the one we published, so you can check the file you downloaded.

Before you start

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 on a 64-bit computer.
  • An administrator account on that computer: the installer sets up the pharmacy database and two Windows services.
  • A steady internet connection for setup: the pairing is checked with HopMeds and the first copy of your pharmacy is downloaded.
  • A HopMeds account with an approved plan, and its administrator beside you for the code.

Setup downloads its pieces once and takes a few minutes. It is safe to run the installer again at any time.

The one-time code that connects this computer

A new computer is not installed around a code nobody has checked. The installer proves the code with HopMeds before it copies a single file, and stops when the answer is no.

Where the code comes from

In HopMeds, an administrator opens Settings, then Devices & Printing, then Pharmacy PCs, and chooses Add a pharmacy PC. HopMeds shows a code like ABCDE-FGHJK and the name of the branch it belongs to.

The code works once and lasts 15 minutes. Read it out to whoever is at the computer; it does not need to be written down anywhere else.

What the installer checks

A wrong code, a code that has already been used, one that has run out, or a pharmacy that is no longer active each stop the install with their own sentence and their own fix. A technician at the machine reads why, while the code is still in their hand.

A computer that is already connected asks for no code when it is updated, because it already holds this pharmacy's data.

Updates arrive inside the app

You do not have to watch this page. The installed app looks for a new version by itself, tells you when one is ready, and installs it when the counter is quiet.

Downloaded and checked first

A new installer is downloaded in the background and checked against the fingerprint we published for that version. A file that does not match is thrown away, so a half-finished download never replaces a working install.

Installed when nobody is selling

The upgrade waits for the shop's quiet hours, with nobody using the computer, so a sale is never interrupted. If you would rather do it yourself, press Update in the app and it installs straight away; Windows may then ask an administrator to allow the change.

Questions about installing

Will an update delete my pharmacy data?

No. An upgrade keeps the database where it is, and the installer makes a backup before it replaces any file. Uninstalling asks first and keeps the pharmacy data unless you explicitly choose to delete it.

Do I need a pairing code every time I update?

Only a new computer needs one. An update of a computer that is already connected to your pharmacy asks for nothing.

What happens if the internet is down during setup?

Setup needs the internet once: the code is checked with HopMeds and the first copy of your pharmacy is downloaded. The installer says it could not reach HopMeds and stops, rather than installing a computer with no pharmacy on it. Run it again once the connection is back.

Can I install it on a second computer?

Yes: each computer is its own pharmacy PC with its own pairing code, and the branch and its series are recorded with it. Ask your administrator for a code for that computer, in the same Devices & Printing screen.
